Sadoway Labs Foundation
Extreme Electrochemical Technologies for Industrial Decarbonization
Sadoway Labs Foundation is a scientific research nonprofit developing extreme electrochemical technologies that electrify industrial processes. Through applied research and technology development, we are advancing industrial electrification and decarbonization.
We develop technologies that simplify flow sheets, reduce fossil‑fuel dependence, and strengthen supply‑chain resilience. Our technologies provide next‑generation solutions for emissions reduction, the transformation of critical minerals into clean metals, and grid‑integrated clean energy systems.

Our team of researchers and engineers work with industry partners to accelerate the commercialization of electrochemical reactors and plants, enabling cost‑effective pathways for industrial energy transition.
We push the boundaries of innovation in sustainable energy storage, carbon capture and utilization, and clean metals production. In doing so, we're building a net-zero, low-carbon industrial future.
Why Extreme Electrochemistry:
A Platform for Industrial Electrification
Sadoway Labs Foundation is at the forefront of XE industrial decarbonization solutions.
Daniell and Faraday,
fathers of electrochemistry

Extreme electrochemistry (XE) is an advanced class of electrochemical reactions in non‑aqueous systems, such as molten salts, often operating above 1000°F.
XE industrial electrification enables next-generation solutions for hard-to-abate sectors such as steel and cement. It replaces processes traditionally dependent on carbon fuels, providing an electricity‑driven pathway for critical metals production and recycling, CO2 utilization and transformation, novel battery designs, and more.

XE delivers predictable OpEx that strengthens long‑term planning, de‑risks investment, and enhances industrial competitiveness by drawing on stable, affordably priced electricity, rather than carbon sourced from volatile global commodity markets.
Compared to aqueous systems, XE provides high‑throughput performance through accelerated reaction kinetics and inherent process intensification, reducing CapEx requirements.

Today, extreme electrochemistry is emerging as a strategic platform for low‑carbon manufacturing, secure and resilient supply chains, and domestic production of critical materials.
Our Sadoway Labs technology portfolio is built to advance next‑generation industrial decarbonization solutions, from critical materials production to CO₂ transformation and other high‑impact applications. Our technologies are available for license. We also work with industry partners on sponsored research to address your unique challenges.
